From The Newsroom: The Amber Hagerman Case; A Mathematician On The Lottery

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: It's the 20th anniversary of the abduction of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman of Arlington. Her murder in 1996 led to the Amber Alert – a system of media notifications, advising the public to be on the lookout for missing children. 

The Amber Alert is now nationwide – the legacy of a bright, brown-haired little girl who loved to ride her bike. 

Meanwhile, Uplift Education wants to build a charter school in southwest Dallas. The group’s permit application was on the agenda at today’s Dallas City Council meeting. And instead of taking action, council members delayed a vote. 

Tonight’s $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot is the largest lottery prize in America. Did you get your ticket yet? Hate to tell you, though, the chances of winning are slim.
