From The Newsroom: 20 Years Later, Amber Hagerman’s Case Still Unsolved

Wikipedia

The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom:

Twenty years ago today, someone abducted 9-year-old Amber Hagerman while riding her bike in Arlington. She was later found dead in a drainage ditch.

Arlington police say they’ve gone through nearly 8,000 leads, but still haven’t found Hagerman’s killer.

Her 1996 abduction led to the Amber Alert notification system to notify the public of missing children.

Other stories this morning:

  • A new report found only three percent of students who attend the country’s top colleges and universities come from low-income families.
  • Cardiologists will get a rare chance to see what extreme exercise does to a heart. They’ll follow a swimmer attempting to become the first person to swim across the Pacific Ocean.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
