Top Stories: Ted Cruz Town Hall In McKinney; What Birds And Babies Have In Common
The top local stories this morning from KERA News:
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will be in McKinney tonight for a town hall hosted by the Concerned Veterans of America as part of a statewide tour.
The contentious town hall he hosted yesterday in McAllen in Democratic-leaning Hidalgo County drew supporters - and protesters who oppose U.S. Senate attempts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Cruz opposes Obamacare, but he's not on board with the Senate's repeal-and-replace bill as it stands. He's advocated for an amendment allowing insurers that sell an Obamacare-compliant plan to also offer narrower and cheaper coverage.
The Senator may have a friendlier audience tonight in McKinney. Cruz swept Collin County in the 2012 election with 63 percent of the vote.
