Top Stories: Today’s The Last Day To Register To Vote; Boosting Literacy In Fort Worth

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Today’s the last day to register to vote for the Nov. 8 general election. Some county elections offices will extend hours for last-minute applicants.

You can find voter registration applications at local county elections offices, sub-courthouses, city halls, libraries and post offices.

They’re also available online, but you have to get your applications postmarked or drop it off at your local election office by close of business today.

Other stories this morning:

  • Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will be in Dallas today for a campaign fundraiser. He won’t be holding any public events, but state Democrats plan to greet him with press conferences.
  • Just three out of 10 third graders are reading at grade level in Fort Worth public schools. That’s a problem the school district is trying to fix.
