The Dallas Police Department has made its first dog bite arrest. Alicia Hernandez was arrested Friday after police say her pit bull attacked two people in a month.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Animal Services quarantined the 65-pound dog for 10-days after the first attack and then returned the dog to Hernandez.
Police said the dog attacked again while the city was in the process of declaring the animal as a dangerous dog, which would’ve required Hernandez to follow specific safety requirements.
The city’s loose dog problem in Dallas led to the death of a woman in May. No arrest so far in the case of Antoinette Brown. The homeless veteran died after being bitten more than 100 times in May.
The suspected dogs have been euthanized, but police are waiting on forensic testing to prove they were responsible.
