Dominique Alexander, founder of Next Generation Action Network, speaking to protesters July 29.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: A group of demonstrators with the Next Generation Action Network protested and marched against police brutality in Dallas last night.

Hours earlier, network leader Dominique Alexander was arrested on outstanding warrants outside City Hall.

Before Alexander's arrest, Dallas Police Chief David Brown in an email asked the founder to stop holding demonstrations downtown out of respect for officers’ safety.

Alexander’s group helped organize the July 7 protest after which a gunman ambushed police officers, killing five.
