  • Arlington's city council yesterday voted to call an election for residents to decide whether they want to redirect taxes for a new ballpark for the Texas Rangers. The proposed $1 billion, air-conditioned stadium would be built across the street from the Rangers’ current home, Globe Life Park. The team’s lease at the park ends in 2024. The council must vote one more time before the item can be added to the November 8th ballot. The second vote is set for Tuesday.
