Top Stories: Texas Gets Financial Support To Combat Zika; Tips To Make The Most Of Tax Free Weekend

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: Texas is getting $720,000 to fight the Zika virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is giving $16 million to dozens of states to find ways to detect microcephaly. 

The three day tax-free weekend lets families buy backpacks, sneakers and blue jeans with no sales tax. That seems like a straightforward way to save.KERA's Courtney Collins reports on five reasons sales tax holidays aren’t such a great deal.
