Top Stories: Rowlett Wants To Make The Tornado Rebuilding Process Easier

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:Rowlett is encouraging residents to rebuild quickly after December’s tornadoes – by scaling back construction requirements.

The Dallas Morning News reports new codes on residential construction differ from some of the city’s older neighborhoods – such as requiring 100 percent masonry exterior and prohibiting street-facing garages.

City leaders earlier this week said they feared the current standards would make it too costly for residents to rebuild.
