Top Stories: FW Symphony Saga Continues; A Colleyville Actor On His Big Oscar Role

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra musicians

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Fort Worth Symphony musicians won’t face an 8 percent pay cut Monday as planned. Management decided not to implement the cut.

As a result, the musicians' union told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram they’ll meet soon to decide whether to move forward with contract talks.

The pay cut was part of a final offer from management. Musicians rejected the deal and voted last week to authorize a strike.

Other stories this morning:

  • The Dallas city council yesterday approved building a new charter school in southern Dallas. Opponents say the school would pull students out of Dallas public schools.
  • The Big Screen team continues its Oscar preview series with “The Revenant,” which is nominated for 12 Academy Awards.
