The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom:

A 12th person has died of injuries from one of the 10 tornadoes that struck North Texas the day after Christmas.

Those who survived the storms face a massive cleanup effort. The Insurance Council of Texas estimates the tornado outbreak caused at least 1.2 billion dollars in damage. An engineer who specializes in how construction holds up during a storm says there needs to be stronger home-building standards.
