From The Newsroom: Severe Storms Hit North Texas; Jackson Pollock's 'Blind Spot'

National Weather Service

Local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The severe weather threat has passed for North Texas. Parts of the region woke up to tornado sirens shortly before 4 a.m.

“We saw some kind of smaller scale circulations develop and these actually prompted us to issue a couple tornado warnings across the Metroplex,” National Weather Meteorologist Lamont Bain said.

There have been no reports of tornadoes so far, though West Texas reported five last night.

Other stories this morning:

  • Dallas teachers sound off on the new evaluation and pay system that grades them. It’s based on merit, rather than years of service, and student evaluations also play a role.
  • A major new show is opening Friday at the Dallas Museum of Art. It focuses on painter Jackson Pollock when he was supposedly past his prime.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
