Failed a state standardized test? You could still graduate under a new bill awaiting signature from Governor Greg Abbott.

The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: A bill that would allow high school seniors to graduate despite failing one or more standardized tests will head to Gov. Greg Abbott to be signed.

Also, a new college ranking from the Brookings Institute calculates how much of an income boost a degree provides.

Finally, we sit down with NPR's Bob Mondello to talk about the challenges of reviewing film for radio.

You can listen to the segment weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.

Former KERA staffer Krystina Martinez was an assistant producer. She produced local content for Morning Edition and KERANews.org. She also produced The Friday Conversation, a weekly series of conversations with North Texas newsmakers. Krystina was also the backup newscaster for the Texas Standard.
