Dallas, TX – Industrial Boulevard in Dallas could get a new name today but NOT the big vote-getter in a city-survey. Riverfront Boulevard is the front-runner.

In June, Cesar Chavez Blvd got 52% of the vote in an online survey about changing the name of Industrial Blvd. Hispanic groups demanded the city honor the survey vote. Now, Ray De Los Santos, with the League of United Latin American Citizens, says the Cesar Chavez Blvd Task Force is willing to accept Riverfront Blvd for Industrial if ROSS Avenue is re-named for the longtime farm workers union/civil rights leader and devout Catholic.

De Los Santos: We have the Guadalupe Cathedral sitting right smack on Ross. We have the only education facility named for Cesar Chavez in North Texas that I'm aware of and it abuts on Ross.

Trinity River Corridor Committee Chairman Dave Neumann says he'll recommend Riverfront Blvd. for Industrial, and recommend the City Plan Commission pick a street for Cesar Chavez.
