State data shows just two of Texas’ most populous counties have surpassed their voter turnout rate in 2020.

From those who planted the seeds of Trump’s strategy to try to challenge the election, to others who sowed doubt and anger by spreading baseless election-fraud conspiracy theories, Texans played major roles in the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol two years ago.

Texas’ top election official said the county’s operations were “unmatched.”

Hervis Rogers, whose determination to vote in 2020 garnered national headlines, was arrested and charged with a felony after the Texas Attorney General’s office argued Rogers was prohibited from casting a ballot because he was on parole.

Guy Reffitt, a 49-year-old Wylie resident, never entered the Capitol but helped ignite the crowd “into an unstoppable force,” a prosecutor at his trial said. His sentence is the longest given out so far from the Jan. 6 riot.

The bar, which licenses lawyers and offers training sessions, is suing Paxton in an attempt to sanction him for trying block the certification of Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump.

After Paxton said the lawsuit was politically motivated, the attorney general announced his office is investigating a state bar’s non-profit arm for allegedly aiding “a mass influx” of undocumented immigrants.
