From The Newsroom: What Makes Something Scary; Task Force Tackles Poverty

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez is under fire for how long the county keeps undocumented immigrants in jail. Sixteen people have sued her and the county, claiming they were held for extended periods, even for minor offenses. 

A look at what the Dallas Mayor’s Task Force on Poverty is trying to tackle. City and community leaders gathered this morning to talk about everything from child poverty to living-wage jobs. 

Everyone loves a good scare, especially this time of year. Internationally-known photojournalist Misty Keasler got a behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest haunted house attractions in North Texas. A place called Thrillvania, which is east of Dallas in Terrell.
