Testimony continues today in the appeal hearing of Fort Worth police officer William Martin. He's the police officer seen in the videotaped arrest of Jacqueline Craig that went viral in December.
She called 911 for help in December to report an alleged assault of her 7-year-old son.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Craig, during her testimony at the hearing, said she quote - felt worthless as a parent - when Martin took her into custody.
Martin said he regretted being “rude” toward Craig and her family, but he denied using excessive force. He also said he had no knowledge of the allegation that Craig’s son had been choked until he arrived, but found no evidence that an assault had occurred.
Martin was suspended for 10 days without pay for the incident. His appeal hearing is expected to last through tomorrow.
An independent arbitrator will later decide whether to uphold the punishment or reduce it with back pay.
