Joe Barton, the Ennis Republican who represents parts of North Texas in Congress, was with his two sons on a baseball diamond Wednesday when a shooter began firing. Barton, who manages the Republican baseball team, recounted the scene for reporters a few hours later.

- Dallas Symphony president Jonathan Martin is leaving the DSO to run the Cincinnati Symphony. In his five years in Dallas, Martin gave the DSO fresh direction. He established both the Soluna Festival and the smaller, more adventurous ReMix series at the City Performance Hall.
It’s no news to Dallasites that this city is home to some exceptional talent. And the list is getting longer. This fall, five male dancers from Dallas’ Booker T. Washington High School are going to the renowned New York fine arts school, Juilliard. As KERA’s Stephanie Kuo reports, this is an unprecedented hallmark.
