The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News:

Lindsay Diaz has been struggling since losing her home after last year’s Christmas weekend tornadoes. Her underinsured Rowlett duplex was severely damaged — then, just after deciding to repair her home, a demolition company mistakenly tore down what was left of it.

As Courtney Collins reports, construction on the rebuild is just now getting started, nearly a year later.

  • Justice Stephen Breyer was in North Texas on Tuesday. Breyer has served on the United States Supreme Court for more than 20 years. In that time, he’s seen a distinct rise in the number of cases that require him and his colleagues to engage with other legal systems around the world. KERA’s Krys Boyd talkedwith him about getting to know the legal systems of other countries. 
  • Theatre Three has a new artistic director – only its second in its 55-year history. For over a decade, Jeffrey Schmidt has directed, designed and acted at Theater 3, and he’s also been an artist-in-residence there.
