The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News:

President-elect Donald Trump is criticizing the F-35 fighter jet produced by Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. On Twitter Monday morning, Trump said the F-35 program is out of control and that billions of dollars can and will be saved on military purchases when he is president.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • Fake news has dominated the news lately. Many false stories spread on social media during the presidential election. Texas agriculture commissioner Sid Miller has been criticized in recent months for the stories he posts on social media. Miller defended his postings with Nathan Bernier with KUT, the public radio station in Austin.
  • Credit rating agency Moody's has once again downgraded the city of Dallas bond rating. It means the city will pay more interest on new debt. KERA’s Eric Aasen talked with "Texas Tribune" reporter Brandon Formby, who’s been studying what’s happening in other cities across the state.
