The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: There’s a fear in Dallas that unfunded liabilities at the Dallas Police and Fire pension system fund could bankrupt the city. The plan’s reportedly $7 billion in debt, and if a court ordered the city to cover that debt, it couldn’t.

  • The Texas Board of Education unanimously rejected a Mexican-American studies textbook last week – a book that experts say is filled with factual errors and stereotypes. Erika Beltran is a Democrat of Fort Worth and a State Board of Education member, and talks about what led to the rejection of the textbook in Texas.
  • Fort Worth Symphony musicians have been on strike since September and the orchestra has canceled all concerts through the end of this year. KERA’s Bill Zeeble asked some arts leaders and concert goers what the strike means to them and the city.
