Top Stories: Obamacare Open Enrollment In Texas; Election Social Media Habits

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Open enrollment begins today in Texas for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. But you’ll find fewer options and higher rates for plans purchased on the federal exchanges.

Several health insurers pulled their plans, including Aetna and United Healthcare. According to federal estimates, Texans who buy insurance through the online exchanges can expect an average increase of 25 percent. However, they also could receive more financial assistance in the form of subsidies.

1.3 million Texans signed up for health insurance last year. 84 percent received tax credits.
