The top local stories this morning from KERA News: A week into early voting, civil rights advocates say they’ve gotten more than 300 reports of problems at Texas polls.

The Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund filed a lawsuit in Bexar County, challenging the use of outdated Voter ID signs in polling locations. And the United Hispanic Council of Tarrant County filed a complaint with the U.S. Justice Department over claims of voter suppression against the elderly.

KERA’s partnering with ProPublica and other news organizations to track voting issues. Get involved here or by texting TXDECIDES to 69866.

Other stories this morning:

  • Pumpkin’s used in a number of sweets this time of year. But it can also be a healthy food choice.
  • Think is broadcasting from Austin this week. Today at noon, Krys Boyd talks with Lee Mackenzie of the Austin Bat Refuge to talk about the 1.5 million bats that leave the Congress Avenue Bridge to hunt insects.
