Top Stories: First Day Of Early Voting In North Texas; Talking About Stray Dogs In South Dallas

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: The latest presidential polls are showing a surprisingly close race in Texas. A YouGov poll released Monday has Donald Trump with just a three-point lead over Hillary Clinton. It’s been 40 years since Texas voted for a Democrat.

  • Stray dogs have plagued southern Dallas for decades. The issue gained national attention in May after Antoinette Brown was mauled to death by a pack of dogs. Peter Brodsky, who’s redeveloping the old RedBird Mall in the neighborhood, was appointed to chair the Dallas Animal Advisory Commission. Brodsky’s also a KERA board member, and talks about how the city is tackling the problem.
