Top Stories: Rain Continues Today, Though Not As Severe

National Weather Service
A Flash Flood watch is in effect for North Texas until midnight.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: More rain and flooding is likely for parts of North Texas today.

Erath County alone had about 4 inches of rain yesterday. Parker, Hood, Johnson, Dallas and Grayson counties also faced flooding.

However, there’s some good news: the areas expected to get rain today won’t be the same as those hard hit yesterday.

“As the day starts heating up, we’ll see showers and storms develop, and probably the best area to see that stuff is generally going to be south of the Interstate 20 corridor,” National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Fano said.

However, the ground is still saturated in many places, so even 1 to 2 inches of rain could cause flooding.

“People really need to heed barricades and warnings. We can’t emphasize that enough,” said Fano. “It doesn’t take much water to move a car off of a roadway.”

A Flash Flood watch is in effect for the region until midnight.
