Top Stories: Rains Pound Texas; What Would Founding Fathers Think About Donald Trump?

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: Three soldiers are dead and six are missing after an Army truck was washed from a low-water crossing and overturned in a creek at Fort Hood in Central Texas. In Dallas-Fort Worth, some areas got up to two inches of rain an hour Thursday afternoon.

Juan Williams was in North Texas last week, speaking at events sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Dallas-Fort Worth. He’s written a new book called "We The People." In it, Williams explores modern-day Americans who extend the Founding Fathers’ original vision of the United States.

Williams talks about his book, presidential politics and life after being an NPR correspondent.

  • The North Texan who led Pepsi during the 1980s Cola Wars has died at age 71. Roger Enrico died during a snorkeling vacation in the Cayman Islands. He was a member of KERA’s Board of Directors and served on a number of North Texas arts boards.
