The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick will hold a press conference tonight in Fort Worth to voice his outrage against the bathroom policies in that school district.
The guidelines would require school officials to offer transgender students access to single-stall restrooms or the opportunity to use a restroom when no other students are present.
A statement from Patrick accused Superintendent Kent Scribner of putting his personal political agenda above students by not getting public input before putting the guidelines in place. Scribner says they’re intended “to foster a productive educational process for all.”
A statement from school board President Jacinto Ramos, Jr. said the board stands behind Scribner.
