The top local stories this morning from KERA News: The CDC has confirmed the first case of male-to-male transmission of Zika virus in Dallas County.

One man contracted the virus during a trip to Venezuela back in January. Two days after his return to Dallas, he gave the virus to his partner, who did not travel.

Zika is primarily a mosquito-born virus, but five U.S. cases resulted from sexual transmission. 27 cases of Zika virus have been confirmed in Texas so far.

Other stories this morning:

  • The immigration debate is stuffed with loaded phrases like “sanctuary cities” and “anchor babies.” In our Friday Conversation, we’ll hear from a California professor who’s been studying the subject for decades.
  • The Dallas Stars won the first game of their playoff series against the Minnesota Wild last night, 4-0. The two teams face off again tomorrow night in Dallas.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:22 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
