Top Stories: What’s Next For Ted Cruz; How Garland Schools Are Coping After Tornadoes

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Texas Senator Ted Cruz will be making stops in both New Hampshire and South Carolina today to capitalize on his win in Iowa.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is the Texas chair for the Cruz campaign. He told the Texas Tribune the campaign is looking at March 1, when 14 states, including Texas, will be holding elections or caucuses.

Other stories this morning:

  • The Naval Air Station in Fort Worth launched an annual training exercise this week. It’s designed to make sure the base is ready to respond to security threats.
  • KERA’s Stella Chavez checks in on schools in Garland, a little more than a month after tornadoes wrecked neighborhoods there. While debris cleanup is ahead of schedule in the city, its students are still coping.
