From The Newsroom: Texas Gets A D- On Integrity Report; Denton Debates Energy Plan

The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The Center for Public Integrity and Global Integrity released its State Integrity Investigation, a national assessment of state government accountability and transparency. Texas ranked 38th out of 50 states.

No state made a grade higher than a C, but Texas made a D-.

Other stories this morning:

  • Denton’s City Council will discuss a plan later today to boost the amount of renewable power to 70 percent by 2019. However, there’s debate over a portion of the plan, which would rely on building two new natural gas power plants.
  • Dade Middle School in Dallas has faced many problems, from student discipline issues to high staff turnover. Parents and community leaders are planning a summit this weekend to boost neighborhood involvement in the school.
