The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The Flash Flood Watch has been extended in North Texas to Sunday morning, thanks to a category 5 hurricane expected to make landfall in Mexico today. Hurricane Patricia is one of the strongest eastern North Pacific hurricanes ever recorded.
“We’ll probably see another round or two of moisture of showers and storms,” says meteorologist Lamont Bain. “That moisture is only going to help intensify the heavy rainfall potential.”
DFW Airport reported about 2 inches of rain over the last 24 hours. In Arlington, Bain says it’s been as high as 3 inches. Another 3 to 6 inches of rain is expected to fall through tomorrow.

Forecasters don’t expect the same kind of flooding that hit North Texas in May.
