Dallas, TX – Farmers Branch City Council members discuss creation of a "Farmers Branch" school district this evening.
Mayor Tim O'Hare says the talk of pulling out of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch District has nothing to do with his recent opposition to a LULAC mentoring program at R.L. Turner High School.
The Mayor says this is about "growing" Farmers Branch.
O'Hare: One high school towns bring in more community support; bring in more volunteer hours. And from the reviews that I've done, the research I've done, the towns I've looked into, it usually results in appreciating property values.
Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District officials say only 26 hundred Farmers Branch students attend district schools. State law says new districts must have 8-thousand.
