Dallas, TX – AMR, the parent company of American Airlines, says the personal information of about 79,000 retirees, former and current employees has been stolen.
AMR says the data of mostly retirees ranges from 1960 to 1995. Information includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers and vital information like hospital and bank records. Spokesperson Stacey Frantz says there have been no reports of identity theft.
Frantz: We are not aware of any fraudulent use of the information, but nonetheless, we continue to take the matter very seriously.
AMR will offer those affected a free year of credit monitoring. Frantz says no passenger information was affected.
