Dallas, TX – Dallas begins once-a-week trash pickup citywide today.

The city's Danielle McClelland says recycling increases with one-day pickup and trucks use less fuel. She says some neighborhoods will have to make additional changes.

McClelland: Some residents in Dallas have alleyways that are too narrow for the garbage carts and our trucks. In the past, we've been able to pick up the garbage in bags in their alleys. But since we're going to weekly collection, everybody will be on the roll cart system and those roll carts will need to be placed on the curb in front of the resident's home for collection.

McClelland says crews worked through the weekend delivering roll carts. Homeowners who don't have one yet should call 3-1-1.
