Dallas, TX –

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison says now that the healthcare vote is over in the U.S. Senate, and she's focused on the Governor's race.

She opened her Dallas County Campaign headquarters today.

Hutchison: I am absolutely going to spend every waking moment until March 2nd to tell the Texas people why it is so important that we have a new Governor.

Senator Hutchison says another term would mean 14 years in office for Governor Perry. She says that's too long, and it breeds arrogance and cronyism.

The Perry campaign says Hutchison has spent almost "17 years" in the U.S. Senate. The campaign adds that the Governor has always appointed the most qualified Texans to Boards and Commissions.

Senator Hutchison says she's ready for Thursday's night's KERA debate with Governor Perry and GOP activist Debra Medina.

KERA and its media partners are producing the debate which will be broadcast statewide from the campus of the University of North Texas, starting at 7pm.
