Dallas, TX –

Both Texas Governor Rick Perry and Republican Party primary opponent Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison back President Obama's order sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Perry was in Dallas Wednesday meeting with various supporters.

Perry: I think his decision to send more troops to support the effort in Afghanistan was the appropriate decision and listening to commanders in the field was the right thing to do.

In a prepared statement after the President's speech Tuesday, Hutchison called increased troop levels a critical step in efforts there. She supports General McChrystal's request for adequate troops going forward, and said the president must be prepared to send more troops if the need arises.
