Dallas, TX –

A Dallas-area Congressman wants more facts before concluding the Fort Hood shooting rampage was an act of terrorism. KERA's BJ Austin reports.

At a Veteran's Day appearance U.S. Senator John McCain called the Fort Hood shootings an "act of terror." Dallas-area Republican Congressman Jeb Hensarling says that's the direction the investigation "appears" to be going, but he wants to see more before making up his mind.

Hensarling: Clearly there is a lot of information that makes Americans wonder why was this man allowed to serve our nation, or at least don his nation's uniform. A lot of questions are being asked at this time. It's critical that all the facts be know, but certainly at this point in the investigation it certainly creates that impression.

Officials have said Army Major Nidal Hasan's connections to more radical elements of Islam were investigated and discarded. The Associated Press is reporting that a group of doctors overseeing Nidal Hasan's medical training discussed concerns about his overly zealous religious views and strange behavior months before the Fort Hood shooting rampage
