Dallas, TX –
The key defendant in the Dallas City Hall corruption trial returns to the stand today.
Former Councilman Don Hill and four others are accused of bribery and extortion involving city contracts for low income housing developments.
Prosecutors spent about two months laying out their case. Hill is the first defendant to take the stand.
Dallas defense attorney Clint David, a courtroom observer, expects Hill's cross examination by prosecutors will be tough.
David: They're gonna try to get under his skin, try to catch him in conflicts. They're gonna try to have him explain away the unexplainable. But I will tell you something. Don Hill is going to be a very good adversary for these federal prosecutors. And it's going to be a long day trying to ruffle his feathers.
Hill has more questions from his attorney to answer before prosecutors get to ask theirs later this week.
