DISD Advised on Board Elections

By Shelley Kofler, KERA News

Dallas, TX – This afternoon, lawyers for the Dallas school district gave board members two options for dealing with an attorney general's ruling.

The attorney general has said the board acted illegally when it extended the terms of three board members who should have run for re-election this month to keep their seats. School district lawyers say the board can now call a special election in November or name replacements to fill those positions for another year.

The three DISD board members affected are Lee Ann Ellis; Ron Price and Edwin Flores. DISD is expected to decide this issue later this month.
