Fort Worth Report Released on New Meetings

By BJ Austin, KERA News

Dallas, TX – Fort Worth City Council members, today, get a look at what citizens have on their minds. KERA's BJ Austin says they'll get the final report on the recent series of town hall meetings called "Let's Talk Fort Worth."

Nine local town hall meetings, and one citywide event, were staged last summer and fall to get input from citizens, neighborhoods associations, schools, churches, civic organizations, and businesses about Fort Worth, where it is now, and where it needs to go. Mayor Mike Moncrief says he was very pleased that the meetings were more about what's right than what's wrong. And he says they're already at work on some things in the report.

Moncrief: It's surprising what we came out with and have already acted on; and that is that Fort Worth is not a deaf-friendly city. And we are already taking steps to put initiatives in place to make sure we correct that.

Mayor Moncrief says they'll use the priorities and ideas in the report to help plan for the future.
