Democrat in District 105 Wants Recount

By Shelley Kofler, KERA News

Dallas, TX – The Democratic challenger, now trailing by just 20 votes in Texas House District 105, has called for a recount. The race between Bob Romano and Republican Incumbent Linda-Harper Brown of Irving has been the focus of intense interest because the outcome could decide which party controls the Texas House of Representatives.

For more than 12 hours Monday, the Dallas ballot board tallied provisional and overseas ballots. The outcome lead to Harper-Brown's narrow lead dropping from 29 to 20 votes.

Romano and the State Democratic Party have decided that gap is too small to go unchallenged. The recount means this race will not be resolved for weeks.

Republicans say they are confident Harper-Brown's lead will hold.
