Dallas, TX – Justice of the Peace Al Cercone says violators have two options: they can pay in person, in court, or send payment to Central Collections. He says that's where things break down. At times, he says Central collections paperwork would get lost, allowing some repeat offenders from getting arrested. They would manipulate the system.
Al Cercone: The court run by the judge would tell them this is what you must do. Then they would call central collections and someone usurping the authority of court would tell them something less.
Commissioners plan to disperse the Central collections office, putting people who work there back in Justice of the Peace courts. Commissioners expect this will increase amount of money they collect.
