The Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation plans to host a virtual event in place of the annual parade and celebration outside Dallas City Hall.
That event will be accessible via the group's Facebook page.
Scott Murray, CEO of Murray Media, usually hosts the opening ceremonies and helped announce the change in a video message in September.
"We hope you will join us to honor those from the Greatest Generation as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII in 1975," Murray said in the message. "We came together as a country then, so let us come together again for those who have sacrificed so much for us all."
In Fort Worth, the Tarrant County Veterans Council will host a downtown motorcade in place of the usual parade. It begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
