Top Stories: Getting Ready To Shut Down Tent City

STEPHANIE KUO/KERA NEWS

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: The city of Dallas is starting to shut down Tent City, the homeless camp near downtown and Deep Ellum. The first section was closed earlier this week, and as of Wednesday, about 170 people were still in Tent City.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • Taking care of Texas foster children with mental or emotional problems has created a $20 million budget shortfall , and that could double by next year.
  • The NHL playoff push for the Dallas Stars continues Wednesday in Minnesota. If the Stars take the game from the Wild, they could close out the series at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
  • The Dallas Museum of Art has opened a new entrance along Woodall Rogers Freeway, and it is more than just a door.
