The top stories this afternoon from KERA News: Fort Worth’s Zoning Commission voted Wednesday afternoon to draw an expansive historic overlay district to protect the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards.

The decision isn’t binding, it’s ultimately up to the city council. The designation could have a big impact on the Stockyards.

No school kids are involved, but 500 Dallas school employees are moving out of a district building after tests showed lead and other dangerous substances in the water.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • The Dallas Morning News announced Wednesday that it's considering a move out of its downtown headquarters. The company's chief executive, Jim Moroney, made the announcement in an email to employees.
  • The National Weather Service confirmed the fourth and fifth tornadoes in the line of storms that plowed through North Texas yesterday.
