The top stories this afternoon from KERA News: Thunderstorms blasted through North Texas today with high winds, hail and heavy rain. Four people were injured in Hood County; three of them were taken to the hospital. A tornado was later confirmed by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Sixteen apartments in an Erath County complex were damaged; a shelter has opened in Stephenville for the 100 survivors. In Hurst, the Northeast campus of Tarrant County College closed for most of the day after the student union was damaged.

Tuesday morning’s storms were a shocking reminder of the Christmas weekend tornadoes that wrecked houses, and lives, across North Texas. This month, we’re profiling four families left on the financial edge by one of those twisters.

Today, in our series One Crisis Away: Rebuilding A Life, KERA’s Courtney Collins tells the story of Jennifer Anderson.

You can hear North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
