Top Stories: Texas Unemployment Rate Dips For 10th Straight Month; The Black Mozart

The top stories this afternoon from KERA News: The Texas jobless rate is going down. Figures released today show a four-and-a-half  percent unemployment rate in January. Nationally, the January rate was 4.9 percent.

The Dallas Bach Society premiered an unusual work last week. It mixed dancing, singing, music and narration – all for a composer most people haven’t heard of. This composer was also a great swordsman, dancer, violinist and even a military leader in the French Revolution.

  • School superintendents in Texas recently approved a change that may affect transgender student-athletes. Public school officials will soon use birth certificates to verify a student-athlete's gender.
