The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: Volunteers spread out across North Texas and the country for a day of service in Martin Luther King's memory. A group of SMU students ventured off campus, and into the stables of a therapeutic horse park in southeastern Dallas.
Teju Cole was on 'Think' talking about Dr. King. Cole is a Nigerian-American novelist and photographer, who says cameras have a bias built in long ago.
And finally, 50 years ago King spoke at SMU's McFarlin Auditorium. His visit came three years after President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, and the civil rights leader was focused on poverty.
