MAKE ART WITH PURPOSE / FACEBOOK

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: KERA lost a long time staff member, one who dedicated her life to education and civil rights. After a brief battle with cancer, Mary Lee Dodd Greene died Wednesday morning at age 83, surrounded by her family and those she loved.

Commissioning a new artwork can be where the whole creative process begins: picking the artist, setting the goal. It’s the topic for “State of the Arts” at the Dallas Museum of Art on Thursday. Richard McKay, musical director of the Dallas Chamber Symphony, spoke about commissioning composers.
