Dallas Cowboys fans have held out hope all week that Tony Romo might be able to overcome a back injury and play in Sunday’s make-or-break game against the Philadelphia Eagles. But all those prayers will go unanswered.
The Cowboys quarterback had surgery today to repair a herniated disk and will miss the remainder of the season – which won’t extend past Sunday with a loss to the Eagles. Kyle Orton, who has only attempted five passes this season in two games, will start in Romo’s place. Should Orton lead the Cowboys to victory, they’ll play a home playoff game next Sunday.
